Lone Wolf
Who Will Lead the Pack?
An Endurance Run Like No Other
Lone Wolf is a 24-hour race with one rule: everyone runs the same loop, together, on the hour, every hour. Finish your lap and the time left over is yours - eat, sit down, change your socks, close your eyes for a bit - before you're back on the line for the next one.
There's no set distance. Five laps, ten, twenty-four - you stop when you're done.
It isn't really a race against the other runners, not until that final lap anyway. It's you against the clock, running alongside a couple of hundred people who are just as tired, just as muddy, and just as unwilling to stop as you are. Nobody who's done Lone Wolf forgets what lap fifteen feels like at 3am - or the people stood next to them on the start line when it happened.
Pick your own target - 10k, half marathon, marathon, or go looking for your first ultra - and let the hours do the rest. Bring a chair, pitch camp near the start line, keep a head torch handy for the laps after dark. Friends and family can cheer you in at the finish, dogs are welcome on the sidelines and every runner who crosses that last loop takes home a medal - with one Lone Wolf champion, male and female, crowned at the end.
However far you get is the whole point.
