Discover one of South Devon’s best-kept secrets: the stunning Pridhamsleigh Cavern. Bring out your inner explorer in this mystical and muddy underworld.

Do you enjoy getting muddy and challenging yourself? Are you a lover of geology, history, and extreme sports or even just up for a great day out with your friends and family? Then caving in one of South Devon’s most popular caves is definitely for you.

The Pridhamsleigh Cavern Challenge

Pridhamsleigh Cavern has a challenge for everyone, with winding passages; a crystal-clear lake and untouched stalactites hanging from the ceilings. Most people worry about confined spaces and the lack of light when caving; but Pridhamsleigh is a great example of a cavern that’s roomy, with the occasional small space that’s always a challenge by choice. One of the best things about Pridhamsleigh is the versatility of the cave. Dynamic Adventures have taken special needs groups, amputees, claustrophobic individuals and many young people on the muddy adventure; all of who leaves the cave either having enjoyed the experience, or feeling an incredible sense of pride for what they have achieved. You can go for a short journey or a long discovery; whatever the group's age and ability, there is something for everyone.

Join us for a 3-hour session, or combine it with 1 of our other off-site activities to enjoy an adventurous full day. You could start the day Climbing on Dartmoor and then spend the afternoon underground caving…Epic!

Your day caving at Pridhamsleigh Cavern

Your adventure starts by meeting our instructors in the layby, just 5 minute's walk from the cave. (Please see the map below.) Here your instructor will kit you up in a suit, helmet and cave belt, before walking you to the entrance of the cave and providing you with a safety briefing. Like with most extreme sports, the mental head game is definitely one of the hardest challenges for most individuals, especially if you haven't experienced caving before. The fear of the unknown combined with our imagination can create a tight, squeezy image. The hardest part of the trip is crawling through the entrance at the start. Once you're past that you can stand up pretty much all the way. With a good bit of encouragement and some supportive fellow teammates, you will have an amazing trip.

Dynamics Top Tips for Caving!

  1. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting covered in mud. Despite caving suits, the brown stains still manage to get absolutely everywhere! Expect these clothes to never return to their original colour!

  2. Underneath your caving suit please wear long trousers and a T-shirt. You can also wear a jumper if you feel the cold. The cave stays the same temperature of around 12-13 degrees all year round.

  3. Wear wellie boots as these have a good grip on the soles

  4. Go in with an open mind! Everything we do for the first time can be scary. That's because we fear the unknown, and for good reason. However, your instructor has taken into account all of the risks and put appropriate safety measures in place. They are there to keep you safe and to make sure you have the best experience possible. Trust them, and allow yourself to fully enjoy the experience.

  5. Please bring any medications you may need with you. We can keep them safe in our waterproof containers

  6. You can bring a mobile phone/ Go Pro to take photos, but Dynamic Adventures are not liable for any loss or damage to personal possessions.

Reviews from instructors and participants

“Caving is like a time capsule. Heading underground to discover chambers and passages that have been there for years whilst discovering rock features that have taken thousands of years to form is all part of the experience. Caving would definitely be on my recommended "to-do" list!”
